One of the advantages of court marriage and why people love to embrace court marriage in nigeria is because it really saves cost. Although, we usually have reception after the court wedding but one does not even need to wear a wedding gown that costs a lot of money for the church wedding and aso ebi and all of that.

The bride can even dress simply to a court wedding and another way by which it saves money is that it does not provide for room for a lot of people to attend thereby reducing cost of feeding to a large extent.

2. IT IS LESS STRESSFUL

Another advantage of court wedding or marriage which i think is pretty obvious is that it is less stressful compared to the regular traditional wedding or church wedding. Court wedding does not provide for strenuous activities for the couple. The major activity of the court wedding is the signing of the marriage certificate. There is no room for so much preparations for court wedding or marriage.

3. IT PROVIDES FOR SECURITY

Another advantage of court wedding or marriage which you must know is that it provides for security. We all know that when people do court marriage or wedding, each time when they feel they want to divorce and they think about how a lot of things will be taken from them, they tend to resolve issues more often. So to a large extent, court wedding provides for security of a marriage.

Another advantage of court wedding or marriage which is important that you know is that it is not time wasting. We all know the regular traditional marriage or chuch marriage takes longer time because of some of the culture of the people but court wedding is not so. The good thing about court wedding or marriage is that you can wear anything you even want to court.

Now that we have looked at the advantages of court marriage in Nigeria, it is time we also look at the disadvantages of court wedding or marriage in Nigeria which is the major point of this article.  There are a number of disadvantages of court wedding or marriage in Nigeria which i have together a few important ones.

Here are the disadvantages of court wedding or marriage in Nigeria:

1. DIVORCE CASES

One of the major disadvantages of court marriage or wedding is the case of divorce. Court weddings or marriage usually create room for divorce and if divorce should occur, it has a strict process of going through it. Many at times, there have been cases of one of the spouse loosing a large percentage of the properties which need to be shared. Another thing is, except the divorce papers have been filled by the both couples, we still consider them to be married.

2. TIME CONSUMING PROCESS OF PUTTING UP THE WEDDING

Another big disadvantage of court wedding that we need to know is the time consuming process of putting up the wedding. Although, the wedding itself does not take a lot of time but the process of one registering for the marriage takes a lot of time and energy which can be very tiring.  You have to follow a lot of protocols to be able to perform a court marriage or wedding.

3. STRICT FILLING OF FORMS

Another great disadvantage of court wedding that you need to know is that it calls for a strict filling of forms. Before the coupled would be allowed to wed, they must go through the process of  filling  a lot of forms which there must not be any mistake.
