Origin/History Of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB)
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, or FUNAAB, (FUNAAB) was built up on 1 January 1988 by the Federal Government when four colleges of innovation, prior converged in 1984, were demerged. This prompted the making of the initial two colleges of farming in Abeokuta and Makurdi.
On a similar date, Professor Nurudeen Olorun-Nimbe Adedipe was delegated the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the college. Teacher Adedipe formally accepted obligation on 28 January 1988. For a long time the date which Professor Adedipe expected obligation was wrongly embraced as the establishment day. Following a return to the instrument setting up the college, a chamber choice at its 53rd legal gathering in June 2010 returned the establishment date to 1 January 1988 as recommended by the law which built up the college.
Before the development of FUNAAB, the Federal Government had set up Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB) in 1983. At that point, in 1984, it was converged with the University of Lagos and had its name changed to the College of Science and Technology, Abeokuta (COSTAB), before the demerger of January, 1988.
The college began from the old grounds of Abeokuta Grammar School, Isale-Igbein close to the downtown area. It finished its development to its perpetual site along Alabata Road in 1997.
