The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi was built up in 1980 as the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Bauchi, situated in the North Eastern piece of Nigeria with Dr. Jerome Udoji and Professor A. O. Adekola as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor separately, while Alh. Adamu Aliyu was the primary Registrar of the University.
At initiation, the University acquired the site of the previous Bauchi State College of Arts and Science (BACAS) at Yelwa as brief site. She likewise procured 4,500 hectare bundle of land Bauchi-Ningi Road as its lasting site and another package of land along Bauchi-Maiduguri Road on which a private bequest for staff was created; the domain is called Kari Estate.
