Using the calculators
Do I need an account to use anything on this site?
No. There are no accounts on DailyTipsFinder. Every calculator, dataset and article is open to everyone with no sign up, no email address and no login. The calculators run entirely inside your browser, so there is nothing to attach an account to in the first place.
Is everything really free?
Yes, all 38 calculators, the whole data section and every article. The site is funded by advertising. There is no subscription, no paywall and no premium tier, and we intend to keep it that way.
Are the figures I type into a calculator sent anywhere?
No. Every calculator is written in JavaScript and runs on your own device. Your salary, your grades, your rent, the text you paste into the word counter and the passwords from the generator all stay in your browser. Nothing is transmitted to us, stored in a database or visible to any person. Refreshing the page discards it.
Why does the result differ from another calculator I found?
Usually because the other one was built for somewhere else. Many online tools assume a 4.0 grading scale, or apply tax reliefs that Nigeria abolished, or treat rent as a monthly payment. Every tool here shows its method and formula, so you can see exactly what it is doing and judge for yourself which assumption fits your situation.
Can I use these on my phone?
Yes. Everything is built to work on a phone, including the tables, which scroll sideways rather than squeezing. Results can be printed or saved as a PDF from the print button on each calculator.
A calculator is giving me an answer that looks wrong. What should I do?
First read the method and worked example on the page, which usually explains the difference. If it still looks wrong, tell us through the contact page and say which figures you entered and what you expected. We check every reported error against the underlying source.
Accuracy and how we check things
How current are the tax figures?
Our tax tools reflect the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 as it took effect on 1 January 2026, including the abolition of the Consolidated Relief Allowance and the introduction of rent relief at the lower of twenty per cent of annual rent or five hundred thousand naira. Every tool page shows the month it was last reviewed.
Which grading scales do the academic tools support?
The common Nigerian scales of 5.0, 4.0 and 7.0, with the classification thresholds each one uses. Your institution is the authority on its own regulations, and a few weight course units differently, so check your handbook if a result sits near a classification boundary.
Do you update tools when rules change?
Yes. When a rule changes we update the calculation and the surrounding explanation together, and the review date on the page moves. Prices and tariffs are handled differently: rather than baking in a figure that will go stale, those tools ask you to enter the current rate.
Can I rely on a result for an official purpose?
No. Treat every result as an estimate for planning and understanding. Your payslip, your transcript, your loan schedule and your institution's fee notice are the authorities on those matters. Our disclaimer sets this out in full.
How do I report an error?
Through the contact page. Reported errors go to the front of the queue, because other people are reading the same page while it is wrong. We will tell you what we found either way.
The reader data section
Where does the price data come from?
From readers. People report what they actually pay for rent, salaries, school fees, transport and food, and we publish the medians by state and city. Nobody else publishes current local figures like this, which is exactly why we started collecting them.
Is it anonymous?
Completely. We never ask for a name, email address, phone number, employer or exact address, so we never hold anything that could identify a contributor. A submission is a location, a description, an amount and a date.
How reliable is it?
It is self reported and unverified, and we say so plainly. We review every entry for plausibility and reject implausible or identifying ones. Alongside each median we publish the entry count and the range, so you can tell a real signal from two people's anecdotes.
Why show the median rather than the average?
Because one unusually high entry drags an average a long way and barely moves a median. With a single luxury property or one exceptional salary in a small sample, the median gives a far more honest picture of the middle of the range.
How do I contribute?
Through the submission form. It takes under a minute, needs no account and collects nothing about you. Entries are reviewed before publication, usually within a day or two.
Can I have something I submitted removed?
Yes. Describe roughly what and when you submitted and we will find it and delete it. Because submissions are anonymous by design we cannot look them up by your name, so the more detail you give the better.
Privacy, advertising and content
What do you actually collect about me?
Very little. Ordinary server logs, aggregate visit counts, an anonymous daily count of how many times each tool page was opened, and whatever you deliberately type into the contact form. Nothing from any calculator. The privacy policy has the detail.
Do you use cookies?
Yes, for sessions, security and advertising. Third party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's Ads Settings or at aboutads.info/choices.
Do you sell my data?
No. We could not do so even if we wanted to, because we do not collect it. There are no accounts, the calculators transmit nothing and the data submissions carry nothing identifying.
Do you accept payment to recommend things?
No. We do not take money to recommend a product, institution or service inside our editorial content, and we do not write reviews in exchange for anything. Where a link is ever commercial, that will be disclosed where it appears.
Can I republish your articles or calculators?
Not wholesale. Quoting a short extract with attribution and a link back is fine and welcome. For anything more substantial, ask us through the contact page. We are generally willing to say yes when asked. See the terms.
Are you affiliated with any university or government agency?
No. DailyTipsFinder is entirely independent. Where we explain how an institution's process works, that is our reading of published information and not an official statement from them.

Can you build a calculator I need?
Possibly, and it is worth asking. A good number of the tools here exist because a reader wrote in. Describe the calculation and why the existing options do not work, and we will look at whether we can do it accurately.
Can you help with my specific application or result?
We cannot advise on individual cases and we are not affiliated with any institution. For anything decision specific, contact the institution directly. Our general help lives in the calculators and the articles.
How often do you publish new articles?
Regularly, across careers, scholarships, remote jobs, study abroad, school fees, salary guides and portal guides. The articles index always shows the most recent.
How do I find something quickly?
The search covers calculators, datasets and articles together. The tools index lists everything by category, and the sitemap shows the whole site.
