38 calculators built for how things actually work in Nigeria
Grading scales your university actually uses. Tax bands that apply from 2026. Rent that is paid a year in advance. Generator fuel alongside the electricity bill. Every tool runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded, stored or shared with anyone.
Most calculators you find online were built somewhere else and assume everything works the way it does there. They apply a 4.0 grading scale to a university running on 5.0. They calculate take home pay with reliefs that no longer exist. They treat rent as a monthly payment when the landlord wants a year in advance, and they never once mention what the generator costs to run.
This library was built the other way round. Each tool starts from how the thing actually works here, then does the arithmetic. Every page also explains the method, works through a real example, sets out the formula and answers the questions people actually ask, so you can check the reasoning rather than trusting a number that appeared on a screen.
Nothing requires an account. Nothing is stored. All the calculation happens on your own device, which means you can put your salary, your grades or your rent into any of these without a figure leaving your browser.

Open the calculatorReader submitted data
Calculators tell you what your own numbers mean. The data section tells you what everyone else is paying, so you have something to compare them against.
Nigeria has very little public, current, local price data. What does a two bedroom flat actually cost in Yaba this year, as opposed to three years ago. What are graduates really being offered in Abuja. What are schools in Port Harcourt charging this term. Those figures exist, but they live in private conversations rather than anywhere you can look them up.
Our data section collects them. Readers submit what they pay, anonymously and with no account needed, and we publish the aggregates. Every submission is reviewed before it appears, and no personal details are collected or shown.
How to get the most out of these tools
The output of any calculator is only as good as what goes into it. Three habits make a large difference.
First, use measured figures rather than remembered ones. Pull three months of bank alerts before estimating your cost of living. Check your actual tariff on a prepaid receipt rather than using a national average. Time yourself on one topic before planning a revision schedule. Estimates from memory are consistently optimistic in the direction that makes the answer less useful.
Second, read the method section on each page. Knowing why a calculation divides by the old value rather than the new one, or why a flat interest rate costs nearly twice what the same reducing balance figure costs, is worth more than any single result. The tools are built to be checked, not just used.
Third, rerun them. Prices, tax rules, fees and grading policies all change. A cost of living figure from eighteen months ago is a historical record rather than a current one, and decisions made on stale numbers are the ones that go wrong quietly.
Privacy, in plain terms
Every calculator on this site runs in your browser using JavaScript. When you type your salary, your grades or your rent into a field, that value stays on your device. It is not sent to our server, not written to a database and not visible to us or to anyone else. Closing or refreshing the page discards it entirely.
The only thing recorded is an anonymous count of how many times each tool is opened, which is what powers the popular list above. It contains no figures, no identifiers and nothing tied to you. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Missing something?
This library grows based on what people ask for. If there is a calculation you keep doing by hand, or a number you can never find a straight answer to, send us a note. Several tools here exist because a reader asked for them.
You might also want the blog, where we cover scholarships, careers, remote work, school fees and portal guides in more depth than a calculator page allows.
