Scholarship interviews are less about "performing" and more about demonstrating that the written application was genuine. Panels are usually listening for consistency and depth.

Know your own application inside out

Re-read your personal statement and CV before the interview. Panels frequently ask you to expand on something you wrote — vague or inconsistent answers stand out immediately.

Prepare for the predictable questions

• Why this program, and why now?
• How does this connect to your long-term goals?
• What will you do with this opportunity when you return or move on?
• What are your weaknesses, and how are you addressing them?

Practice out loud, not just in your head

Rehearse answers with a friend or mentor, ideally through a mock interview. Speaking answers out loud reveals awkward phrasing that silent rehearsal misses.

On the day

Dress appropriately, join a few minutes early if it's virtual, and bring a calm, conversational tone rather than a memorized script — panels can usually tell the difference, and genuine answers land better than rehearsed ones.
