Report what you pay
Help the next person negotiating a rent, weighing a job offer or budgeting for a term of school fees. The form takes under a minute and collects nothing that identifies you.
What happens to your entry
It goes into a moderation queue and is read by a person before publication, usually within a day or two. Entries that look implausible, that name individuals, or that contain anything identifying are rejected rather than edited.
What we store
The dataset, the state, the city, your description, the amount, the period and the date. We also keep the connection address briefly, purely to limit automated abuse. No name, no email address, no account.
Be as accurate as you can
Report what you actually paid rather than what was advertised or what you think it should be. Where fees included extras, say so in the notes. Accuracy is the only thing that makes this dataset worth anything.
Please do not report on others
Submit figures you have direct knowledge of. Second hand numbers and estimates make the data less useful, and reporting someone else's salary or rent without their knowledge is not something we want to publish.
Once you have submitted, the data section shows what everyone else has reported, and the calculators help you work out what those figures mean for your own situation. Our privacy policy sets out exactly what we do and do not collect.
